New Doll Items in Stores

I was out shopping over the weekend and of course had to take pictures of some of the new things I saw.
Monster High Scarnival Draculaura

Monster High Scarnival Skelita (love how she looks in orange)

Monster High Boo York Frightseeers Draculaura

Monster High Gore-geous Ghoul (and I thought Gooliope was large)

Bratz BFF ( not quite as tall as Gore-geous Ghoul but still fairly large)

Those were the only new things I saw on my shopping trip. Have you see anything new or interesting in stores lately?

Vi and Va dolls by MGA

Last month I told you about an upcoming line from MGA that was similar to the currently discontinued (in the US) Bratz dolls. The Vi and Va doll line has finally made its debut at Target in a big way. There is a sisters two pack, individual dolls, styling heads, and fashion packs already on the shelves. They seem like a cross between Moxie Girls and Bratz but I'm excited to see some new doll lines on the shelves. It's nice to have variety and I might just add one of these to my collection soon.
What do you think of the new Vi and Va dolls?

New MGA doll line

Target's website has photos of a new doll line by MGA called Vi and Va. The dolls bear a strong resemblence to Bratz and Moxie Girlz in looks. The line centers around sisters Viviana and Valentina and their cousins Felicia and Roxxi. They have diverse personalities and interests, singing, dancing cooking and art. I really like that Felicia is into being creative and artsy. What do you think of the upcoming line?

MGA announces no Bratz in the US during 2014

MGA had announced that they will not be releasing any Bratz dolls in the US during 2014, they will however be releasing them overseas. This doesn't really come as a surprise to many who have noticed the line has not faired well in the market place over the last two years. MGA wants to take this time to update the Bratz and make them more appealing in today's market place. This is a risky strategy since a year in the toy world is a big deal, but with increased competition and low sales it could work in MGA's favor. They are planning a huge comeback for 2015 and hopefully can get back to the heart of the Bratz appeal.  I'm not sure what this means for the Bratzillaz, I didn't see them mentioned in the article. I guess only time will tell if this strategy will pay off for MGA, I wish them the best of luck because I love seeing diversity in the doll section of stores.
What do you think of their strategy?
Would you like to see new Bratz dolls or should they focus on their other lines?

Bratzillaz Switch A Witch

I've had these sets sitting in a box just waiting to be put together for several months now. I finally put the first wave sets together and they looked so much better than I expected.
My first impression of these was that they were a Monster High Create A Monster knockoff, and they do have a lot of similarities, but there are plenty of differences too. The Switch A Witch set comes with two multi colored wigs, four different colored shoes, two pairs of earrings, bracelets and two hats. The body parts don't match, they coordinate with the two toned torsos. The dolls have insert eyes which sets them apart from the CAM sets. At the time the Switch A Witch sets were released the CAM sets only had one wig and one pair of shoes. The SAW sets come with a broom shaped hair brush like the other Bratzillas, but they don't come with stands like the CAMs.
The wigs don't have the plastic piece that holds them into the heads like the CAM wigs but they seem to fit very snug and not move around much. The add on pack white and yellow doll has the best eyes, they are side glancing and silver.

Everything is held in place in the plastic with clear rubber bands, I used one of these to pull back the curly haired doll's wig a bit. The curly haired wig was crazy looking straight out of the box, it stuck straight out on the sides. I think the dolls turned out well, I tried to make similar looks to my favorites on the back of the package. I can't wait to see the second wave in stores, I know they have been released I just haven't seen them in my area yet. I think they will make great additions to my collection.
