Egg Hunt with American Girl doll MaKayla

In celebration of the Easter holiday MaKayla (My American Girl 35) went on an egg hunt earlier today, and I took a few photos. I found these cute doll size plastic eggs at the Dollar Tree for a dollar. It was too cold here for MaKayla to go outside without bundling up, she is hoping it warms up soon so she can model some of her other outfits for you.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Becky friend of Barbie

Over the past year or so there has been a push for more diversity in doll lines. People want dolls without hair to represent children with illnesses that have caused them to lose their hair, dolls with disabilities that require hearing aids, wheelchairs or crutches. I think it is a great way to raise awareness and open discussions with youngsters when done tastefully. I was pleased to see the True Hope dolls, and the bald American Girl doll, and all of the accessories that were made for the line.

A few months ago I received as a gift a doll I had never seen before. She is a Barbie's friend Becky doll. Becky is the school photographer and is a friend of Barbie's. She helped Barbie create a scrapbook that was included with the doll. Becky has long light brown and blond hair, and comes with red sunglasses, a yearbook, and her camera around her neck. This doll was released in the late 90s and only three versions of her were made. The doll was considered very popular but because she was in a wheelchair she didn't really fit into Barbie's world. The wheelchair was originally too wide to fit in the elevator of Barbie's dream house. There were complaints about the length of her hair, that it was unrealistic for a person in a wheelchair to have hair that long. So after only three releases Becky was discontinued and so was Mattel's attempts at a disabled doll until recently. I just wanted to share with you the first disabled Barbie and get your opinion on her.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day. I thought I would share some quick photos of Monster High's own Irish girl Scarah Screams. Scarah is the daughter of the Banshees. A banshee is a mythical Irish creature who predicts horrible things. Scarah is ready to celebrate in her green outfit. Hope everyone has a great day and there will be more of Scarah in the future.

Doll Related Things at Michael's

Over the weekend I got the chance to stop in and browse at Michael's. It has been quite awhile since I have been there and I was excited to see new things.
First the American Girl Craft line and book line has expanded greatly over the years, when I was younger to original "Care and Keeping of You" had just been released. I love some of the new crafts and projects.
I also finally got an up close view of the Springfield dolls clothing line. As I have said before I love the sfstyleclub website and have admired some of the outfits online, and finally saw them in person. I also saw the Springfield dolls and think they are great 18 inch dolls for anyone interested in the larger dolls but doesn't want to pay the high price of an American Girl doll. One of the dolls has recently undergone a name change and I saw boxes with each name version listed.
They also had some great stationary supplies with Monster High characters on them, including pens, note cards and envelopes, and notebooks.
I found some great items for an upcoming craft project and some items for future giveaways, so keep checking back.

Pinkie Cooper dolls

The Bridge Direct is coming out with a new line of dolls called Pinkie Cooper dolls, they are set for release later this year. They were designed by the creator of Bratz. They have limited articulation, with articulation at the hips, shoulders, and elbows and their legs bend about half way. They are based on dog breeds with Pinkie being a Cocker Spaniel and have styleable ears. The characters are Pinkie, Ginger, and Pepper, and the collection pictured is the Runway Collection.
What do you think of this new line? Will you be purchasing any?

La Dee Da Fairy Tale line

With the recent popularity of fairy tale lines, Moxie and Monster High have both done one, La Dee Da is getting in on the action. Later this year they will be releasing their own four character fairy tale line. The line includes Red Riding Hood and my personal favorite Rapunzel.

Update: Upcoming La Dee Da Juicy Crush Wave 2

Update December 8, 2013
The Juicy Crush wave 2 have been removed from target.com. Sources say they will be in stores in January.

Update 9/13/13
The wave 2 Juicy Crush dolls are now available on Target.com

It has been confirmed that the very popular and very cute La Dee Da Juicy Crush will have a second wave released later this year. I think the outfits and hair are even prettier on this line and I love how Dee looks very hippie like. This line features Tylie as Pomberry, Dee as Strawberry kiwi, Cyanne as Peach Mango, and Sloane as Tropical Punch. Tylie and Dee are my favorites in this line. Which is your favorite?

Novi Stars Gail Lexi and Cici Thru

The two new Novi Stars Gail and Cici are see through but come with extra skins so they can be whatever they want to be. One comes with a zombie skin and a skeleton skin, sounds familiar. They have been spotted at Target and should be widely available soon. I am disappointed in Gail Lexi I really liked her hair on the artwork and was hoping for a similar style.

Monster High Scaris Rochelle

Sunday "Monster High Scaris: City of Frights" was shown on Nick. I thought I would share some of my other Scaris dolls with you. I will start by saying that I really loved this movie and thought that it was better than "Ghoul's Rule." I was a little surprised to see that the outfits designed by Clawdeen for the "fashion mob" were the fashion pack outfits, but that is a great marketing technique. Okay, on to the review, we are going to look at Scaris Rochelle. I really liked the basic edition of Rochelle, and was unsure if I should buy the Scaris version (trying to cut back on my collection a little bit). What really made me purchase this doll is her dress with the Eiffel Tower on it, the beautiful suitcase, and the fact that is based on Monster High's version of Paris.
Rochelle has grey granite skin with pink eyes. She has silver and pink eyeshadow with a line of turquoise through it. The silver eyeshadow under her eyes reflects light and looks almost metallic. She has bubblegum pink lips and is wearing a grey hat with a pink bow that has a fleur de lis in the center of it, with one eye poking out the top. Rochelle is wearing a pink dress trimmed in black. The skirt of the dress is two tone pink with a picture of the Eiffel Tower up the side. The waist is trimmed in black and the top is a black, pink and light orange stain glass pattern. The top of the dress has pink lace detailing down the front and has black ribbon tank top style straps. Rochelle completes her outfit with black striped tights, two black and two turquoise bracelets and a pair of the most artistically designed pink shoes. She comes with a black stand and brush, a travel journal, and a very detailed suitcase. The suitcase is grey with a pink twisted style handle and a pink fleur de lis "lock."  The detailed design on the suitcase makes me think of the Notre Dame cathedral. This Rochelle doll has very thick pink and turquoise bangs that are a giant curl, her hair is styled into a simple pony tail and the ends are curlier than the hair on the basic Rochelle. The background art on all the Scaris boxes is the same but it is very detailed and makes me glad to keep the box.

Did you like the Scaris movie? Who was your favorite character?
